NOTE: Elevation profile is pulled from Cal Topo but doesn’t necessarily reflect accurate “on the ground” data in terms of mileage and total elevation gain and loss. It is still a great reference for the profile and other aspects like tree cover and exposure. Depending on your watch it will read different mileage. (Suunto tends to run much longer, Coros and Garmin seem to reflect more closely from our testing!)

You may repeat that over and over in your head. But here, it’s not going to help you. You won’t be able to cheat these mountains. 23,000 ft of vertical gain reaching 10,000 ft. They will win if you’re not prepared.
